Many are probably of the opinion that skincare is both your lover and your enemy. When it works there’s smiles all around, but when it doesn’t, you’re back to square one. Here are some helpful tips that can turn your skincare woes into wins.
Since we’re on the verge of summer, as you soak up the sun, be sure to soak up these summer essential tips that have been proved to be effective in your skincare journey. Although these tips aren’t gospel, they are suggestions nonetheless that can be used to enhance what is already stocked up in your beauty cupboard or as foundations for something new.
Know your skin type
Knowing what skin type you have will help you understand what your skin wants. There’s no purpose in using a heavy moisturiser if you have oily skin, over exfoliating when you have dry skin, or applying fragranced products to sensitive skin. Whilst this may not be the case for everyone, it’s best to avoid the obvious things our skin types reject.
Aloe vera
Yes, aloe vera is THE holy grail for all skin types. A super ingredient that can heal irritated skin, quench the thirst of dry skin and satisfy the needs of oily skin. Implementing the nutrient into your routine can be as simple as having it in your moisturiser, using it as a face mask for an hour of your morning before washing or – my personal favourite – toners. Aloe vera toners, like those from The Body Shop UK, are multipurpose products that can soothe the sensitivity of your skin, cleansing it of dirt and dullness.
Sun protection
Sunscreen is perhaps one of the most loved skincare products over the last couple of years. Its popularity has taken it from just a summer necessity to a round-the-clock essential. Whilst many know regular application of SPF15 helps decrease the risk of skin cancer. SPF has also been found to be effective in avoiding hyperpigmentation, early onset wrinkles and helping to maintain glow-y skin.
