Over the weekend, PVRIS have released a further five songs as an extension to their latest record, Use Me. Though four of these five are remixes, it includes the original song ‘Thank You’, featuring British singer-songwriter RAYE.
This is not the first collaboration with another artist on this record, but this is the first time PVRIS have collaborated so heavily with other artists, and it pays off.
“RAYE is best known for ‘You Don’t Know Me’ in collaboration with Jax Jones”
A thumping synth-pop single, ‘Thank You’ is the cherry on top of PVRIS’ third album. Having departed from the rock sound of their sophomore album All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell, Use Me is where Gunn has taken the reigns in terms of production.
Chronicling the immense personal growth she has experienced in the past few years, PVRIS says that: “’Thank You’ is about expressing gratitude to those who may have done you dirt, turning the fuck ups/heartbreaks into lessons for growth and moving forward with power and strength.”
RAYE is best known for ‘You Don’t Know Me’ in collaboration with Jax Jones: she is a distinctive addition to many popular songs over the past few years. Having opened up to collaboration with other artists, PVRIS benefits hugely from the direction this takes them in.
The deluxe version of Use Me includes remixes by Mija and Nicole Moudaber of songs ‘Use Me’ (featuring 070 Shake) and ‘Dead Weight’ respectively, and alternative versions of ‘Things are Better’ and ‘Loveless’.
