Netflix has announced they will produce a One Tree Hill reboot, with Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton reprising their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer.

Dannell Ackles, who played Rachel Gatina, will be an executive producer on the revamp, alongside her husband, Jensen Ackles.

The series will focus on Peyton and Brooke’s lives as parents to teenagers, facing all the challenges they both faced in the original series. It has been confirmed that Chad Michael Murray will not be reprising his role as Lucas Scott, but it is unconfirmed whether James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Lenz will return as high school sweethearts Nathan Scott and Haley James Scott.

In honour of this reboot, let’s reflect on some of the best moments from One Tree Hill…

The Limo Crash

One Tree Hill provided some incredible cliffhangers, and this one was no exception. It involved a drunk Rachel and Nathan’s Uncle Cooper crashing a limo over the bridge at Nathan and Haley’s wedding. Nathan jumped in to save them but never reappeared. The episode ended with Haley repeatedly screaming his name whilst standing in her wedding dress. Meanwhile the famous Naley bracelet – which Nathan gave to Haley after a tutoring session by the river – floated along the water. This shocked many fans and left everyone in suspense about Nathan, Rachel and Cooper’s fates. Fortunately, everyone survived.

Dan shoots Keith

This is the moment where all One Tree Hill fans’ hearts broke and the series was forever changed. During the season three episode, the Tree Hill kids were on lockdown after Jimmy Edwards brought a gun to the school. Jimmy shot the gun against one of the wooden doors in the classroom, and the bullet ricocheted into Peyton’s leg.

Keith Scott entered the school, trying to save Jimmy so Lucas can get Peyton out safely. Unfortunately, Jimmy committed suicide and Dan then shot his own brother. He subsequently blamed Keith’s death on Jimmy.

Hayley and Nathan’s First Kiss

Nathan and Haley were the endgame of One Tree Hill, and the relationship that everybody wanted to have. They first met when Haley had to tutor Nathan in English, which Lucas despised. During the lessons, the two get closer and Nathan revealed to Haley that he only started flirting with her to get back at Lucas. Desperate to stop Hayley’s anger, he cut her off by kissing her mid-sentence.

He later confessed his love for her in the rain and the pair shared another kiss. This is the moment that all fans had been waiting for! The pair got married whilst still in high school and had two children, Jamie and Lydia.

The Heart and The Dog

This moment will go down in history as one of the great moments from One Tree Hill. Dan needed a heart transplant and finally got to the top of the list. While waiting at the hospital, Dan’s new heart ends up on the waiting room floor and, in a shocking moment, is set upon by another man’s dog. This seemed like a moment of madness from the writers with a lot of fans expressing their shock.

Lucas Chooses Peyton

Throughout their entire time on the show, Lucas and Peyton had a will for the relationship. Lucas has always been in love with her, but had a relationship with Brooke as well as other Tree Hill girls, and even almost got married to Lindsey. However, he eventually realised that it was Peyton he’d always loved. Both characters leave at the end of series six following the birth of their daughter, Sawyer Scott.

Brooke Gets Her Happy Ending

Brooke had an eventful time throughout the show. She realised Lucas never loved her, she got attacked in her clothing score, and endured her best friend’s departure. However, she finally got her happy ending when she met film director Julian. The two married and Brooke found out she was pregnant with twins, who she goes on to name Davis and Jude. Brooke successfully launched the Baker Man store, too. With her husband and children in tow, she got the ending she always deserved.

The Series Finale

Fans were sad to see the show end, but it had an incredible nine-series run. Gavin DeGraw, who sings the song’s opening track ‘I Don’t Want To Be’, even gave a special performance of the song for the nightclub Tric’s 10th anniversary. We also saw the series jump ahead 5 years to Jamie’s basketball game. This felt like a full circle moment as the series started with Nathan and Lucas playing basketball – it’s what brought the characters together in the first place, making for a perfect ending to a perfect series.

One Tree Hill is still a firm fan favourite 21 years on. The entire series can be streamed on ITVX.
