‘Bridgerton’ sensation Phoebe Dynevor to star in Sky’s new film ‘The Colour Room’

Acclaimed actress Phoebe Dynevor is to take on the lead role in original Sky film The Colour Room. This will be her first big role since recently appearing in Netflix’s successful series Bridgerton as Daphne, where her promising performance won the hearts of the nation.

Dynevor will play the character Clarice Cliff in the new film, a pioneering ceramic artist responsible of revolutionizing the workplace as a working-class woman in the 1920’s. It’ll follow her inspiring journey of growth in the pottery industry, working in Stoke-on-Trent.

The young actress will act alongside the accredited Matthew Goode, known for playing Lord Snowdon in The Crown and Henry Talbot in Downton Abbey. Others who will star in the film include David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), Darci Shaw (The Bay), Kerry Fox (Rare Beasts) and Luke Norris (Poldark). The Colour Room will be produced by Caspian Films, Sky and Creative England. Claire Peate is the writer, winner of the BAFTA Rocliffe new writing showcase in 2016, and the film will be directed by Ophelia director Claire McCarthy.

I feel proud to be working with such a strong female team”

“I’m so excited to be joining the cast of The Colour Room,” Dynevor says. “It’s truly such an honour to take on such a remarkable character. I feel proud to be working with such a strong female team, both in front and behind the camera.”

Peate says “The story was inspired by a single image; a young factory worker leaving her grim, industrial reality behind her and stepping into the rainbow of the Colour Room – a world of joy and possibility. I’m thrilled to now be working with Phoebe and Matthew in bringing The Colour Room to life.”

The cast are due to work across Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, beginning production later this month. The film will be released on Sky and in cinemas later this year.
