Goodbye ‘Younger’: All You Need To Know About The Season Finale

The following article contains spoilers.

Liza Miller has come a long way from her assistant job at Empirical during the first season of Younger. The character has been through many ups and downs, from lying about her age and opening her own publisher alongside Kelsey, to having to choose between the edgy tattoo artist and her charming boss. It has been a roller-coaster of a ride but, like any other story, there is always a time to say goodbye. Darren Star’s hit series starring Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff is coming to an end, and it’s safe to say that it will be missed.

Paramount+ released the official trailer for Season 7 on social media and announced that the first four episodes of Younger will be available on the streaming platform from April 15th. As we wait for this date to arrive, here is the inside scoop about the series’ grand finale.

Plot Details

Last season ended on quite a cliffhanger after Charles proposed to Liza on the dancefloor. This left fans questioning if the couple will be endgame. Yet the trailer reveals that there is a new addition to the storyline, the stud surfer Kai Manning, who could potentially became another love interest in the mix. As for Kelsey Peters, it seems like the character will be making some pivotal business decisions and will be discovering a new creative outlet to explore.

The series will also tackle a social issue this season as Liza’s best friend/flat mate will be confronted with the cancellation culture. Quinn Tyler, a.k.a Laura Benanti, will be back and according to the trailer, she might potentially get in the way of Liza and Charles’ relationship.

In an interview with TVLand, Darren Star revealed that Miriam Shor and Charles Michael Davis will step down as recurring characters in the final season – the actors were unable to participate as regulars due to Covid-related matters.

Casts Farewell

While fans are already with heavy hearts over Younger coming to an end, the cast have also been emotional on social media about their experience in the show. Hilary Duff, who recently gave birth to her third child, shot her final scenes in February of this year. Co-star Debi Mazar posted a pic of her, Duff, and Foster, alongside the following caption:

Sutton Foster shared a video with various shots of the cast, reminiscing on the memories they have shared for 7 years. She kept the caption short and sweet with the following message: “7 amazing years, thank you thank you.”

The sitcom’s official Instagram account posted a farewell video from the ensemble, thanking the fans for supporting the show.

Spinoff In The Works?

Are we saying goodbye to the whole Younger universe? Not quite!

Darren Star is planning to create a spinoff focused around Kelsey. The series will be produced by Darren Star Productions, JAX Media and MTV Entertainment Studios.

Younger’s final season will have 12 episodes in total. The previous seasons are available on Paramount+ and Hulu.
