Beth Rush

Astrology is an intriguing philosophy that allows you to put things into perspective based on the planetary alignment when you are born. What’s your zodiac sign? If you know what sign you are, you have a basic understanding of astrology and its interpretation.

Because the information is so vast and deep, you can dive into astrology and swim for hours to figure out where the bottom lies. Astrological indications of addiction by studying your birth chart if you know where to look. And while the truth of zodiac signs is heavily debated, they can provide some interesting opportunities for self-reflection and introspection.

Let’s dive into addiction in your natal chart so you can better comprehend where you are on the scale of astrology and what to look for.

Understanding Your Birth Chart

At first glance, your birth chart may appear like one of those dreaded graphs from maths. The signs and symbols can be overwhelming, especially if you don’t know what they mean. The magnitude of the chart can be enough to send even the most interested reader running in the opposite direction.

Sky Snapshot

Your sign in the zodiac is based on your birthday, whereas your chart is a little more personalized. Your birth chart is basically a picture of the sky at the moment you were born. The sky is analysed and interpreted pertaining to the stars and planets and how they align. This analysis is called your natal chart and is used to personalize and assess how the snapshot of the sky pertains to you.

Placing Planets

First, you need to understand the planets and their correlation to the zodiac. Inner ‘planets’ are used to determine your personality and daily experiences. These ‘planets’ are the sun, the moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. The sun is the most commonly referred to in the zodiac. The sun’s location determines daily horoscopes and basic zodiac signs on your date of birth.

The outer planets only change zodiac signs every one to thirty years and are used to determine themes of life and ancestral experiences. These planets are Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter.

12 Houses

There are twelve houses on your birth chart. How the outer houses pertain to you is decided by the houses they occupy. Each of the houses symbolizes an area of life.

Houses one through six consider daily occurrences and personal matters, and the rest of the houses approach more conceptual ideas. Beginning with your ascendant or your rising sign, you should read anti-clockwise from the first to the twelfth house. In opposition to your ascendant is your descendant, which sets instead of rises.

Where the planets fall regarding your birth details unveils your weaknesses and strengths. So your house, sign, and planet combine to illuminate how your birth chart applies to you from every angle and aspect.

Interpreting Planet Presence

There are various factors at play in your birth chart that can determine if you are more likely to develop an addiction. Neptune has been known to be a common indicator of addiction in your birth chart. You are supposedly more prone to addiction if you have a very prominent Neptune.

However, Neptune is an inner planet that only moves every one to thirty years. This means that everyone in your age group will have a prominent Neptune in their birth chart if you do. Suffice it to say, Neptune is not the only indicator of addiction.

If you have a strong Jupiter in your chart, you will likely be in denial if you are addicted. Your love for good times and life, in general, will make you susceptible to an addictive personality that has the potential to lead to abuse of substances.

A strong Pluto presence in your chart means you desire to control and obsess. If you are addicted to something and have an intense Pluto in your chart, you will likely feel like you have control of whatever ails you when it has power over you instead.

If you are a Scorpio with a strong Pluto presence, that’s a double whammy. Scorpios tend to feed off of control and must find a positive way to manifest it.

Strong Saturn is mainly driven to addiction by trying to mask guilt or oppression. Deep feelings need to be expressed positively rather than attempting to cover them up with drugs or alcohol.

People with strong Uranus in their charts like to live life with no abandon. They are rebellious and want to forge their own paths. They are less likely to develop addiction but are more likely to be able to kick the habits if established.

Identifying Addiction

Understanding your birth chart can help you identify a destructive path you might be traveling down. Similarly, it can help you recognize astrology indications in addictions. By identifying behavioural traits, you can take steps to avoid addiction in the natal chart. That way, you can stay off the paths you don’t wish to travel.

If you are likely to develop addictive tendancies or already have, don’t be afraid to tackle your fears. Knowing the patterns and how to identify them can help you access your power to fight them. If you can understand your fear and take the necessary steps to combat it, you can conquer every obstacle that gets in your way.

Breaking the Cycle

Knowledge is power. Understanding why something is happening always helps. If addiction is pounding at your door or has made itself right at home, you can beat it. For every four addicts, three reach recovery. You can beat addiction, too.

While addiction in the natal chart is indicated by astrology, it can also be used for recovery. Knowing how the stars in the sky correlate with your energy and personality can help you focus them on healing.

Look up your natal chart and study it. If that’s not your cup of tea, consider hiring an astrologer to help you. You’ll be surprised how personal the interpretations will be to your unique situation.

Advantages of Astrology

Details of your birth like the date, time and even location are factored into your birth chart. Figuring out how these variables pertain to your abilities, energy, aura, and characteristics are fun and exciting. It can be helpful if you or someone you know is battling addiction. Use astrology to your advantage when facing difficult situations. Who knew it could be so versatile?
