The fourth single has been released from Joesef’s upcoming album ‘Permanent Damage’ and it does not disappoint. The single ‘Just Come Home with Me Tonight’ is personal, gut–wrenching and a beautiful tale of love and heartbreak in all its glory.

We can expect nothing less from the brilliance of Joesef, who released his first EP in 2020. With personal emotions and stories at the heart of his music, his latest release is no different.

Inspired by his heartbreak from the breakdown of a relationship and seeing them again at a party, Joesef used the demo vocal he recorded in his Glaswegian bedroom within the record. He said,it’s strange hearing my voice back in this way, not being in that headspace anymore. I wish I could tell that version of myself that I’ll be alright soon.”

THE SINGLE

Just Come Home with Me Tonight’ is another example of the sheer lyrical and musical genius of Joesef.

At the beginning of the track, we are treated to an almost ethereal sound, building up to the drop of the beat and Joesef’s smooth vocals.

The song has a catchy and infectious beat and hook – one that you can’t help but bop your head along to whilst listening. With the addition of Joesef’s vocals, it is sure to be your earworm of the day.

Joesef’s vocals are simply exquisite on this track (and on the rest of his tracks I must add). His soulful and raw voice is one that everyone should listen to. It’s hard to not be transported when listening to his voice.

THE LYRICS

The lyrics of ‘Just Come Home with Me Tonight’, clearly tell a story of sorrow and heartache:

‘The light has finally left your eyes

But we once flew in summer skies

And you were holding me so tight

Would you just come home with me tonight?’

Heartbreak and loss are laced throughout this verse, and subsequently throughout the whole song. The gut-wrenching feeling of lost love is ever prevalent within this song, and that is a testament to Joesef’s artistry.

At four minutes and 29 seconds, it seems almost not long enough. With his feelings laid bare and his talent for storytelling, it’s hard to not relate to Joesef. His latest single is one more to add to his already exquisite back catalogue.

THE MUSIC VIDEO

The music video released alongside the single is again, a work of art. Directed by Luis Hindman, it is almost like a mini-film, further highlighting the heartfelt and soulful aspects of Joesef’s artistry.

Given Joesef’s musicality and ability to create music that is relatable and strikes a chord with listeners, it comes as no surprise that he has been nominated for BBC Sound of 2020 and Scottish Album of the Year in 2021. He is most definitely one to watch out for.

SEE JOESEF LIVE

My love for Joesef’s music started with his 2020 EP release and seeing him live in October 2021. His live vocals are just as magnificent as they are recorded. I thoroughly recommend Joesef and his music, whether that is in concert or from his recorded tracks.

You can see Joesef live at numerous locations throughout the UK.

Joesef’s debut album ‘Permanent Damage’ is set for release on 13 January 2023.

I for one, will definitely be listening!
