Accredited actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson is set to appear in DC’s upcoming film The Flash.
The 27-year-old Irish sensation is best known for playing the role of Erin Quinn in popular Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls. She has been cast in the upcoming comic adaptation alongside actors including Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting), Michael Keaton (Birdman), Ezra Miller (Justice League), and Ron Livingston (Office Space.)
The film will follow the journey of young Barry Allen, sharing the crime scene investigator’s story of saving the world as he adopts super-human speed after being struck by lightning. It’s yet to be announced what role Saoirse will be taking on in the movie.
She is currently preparing for the May release of her latest project Finding You, a film about an American college student’s blossoming romance with an Irish actor she meets while studying abroad in Ireland.
Derry Girls season three delayed
The actress is also due to film the third season of Derry Girls later this year after filming was delayed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. When asked about the next season she said, “We’re still waiting, because it’s integral to the show that we film in Derry. We can’t do anything in a crowd right now, so logistically, it’s tough. But I spoke to (series creator) Lisa McGee recently and she talked me through the storylines. They’re so brilliant, which doesn’t surprise me, but it made me want to do it right now. But hell or high water, we all want to make it work. If they said we could go tomorrow, trust me, we would all be there.”
As her upcoming appearance in The Flash was announced, she posted the news on Instagram with the caption “*** screams of absolute glee ***”. We share her excitement and will be waiting patiently for the film’s arrival.
The film is set to start production later this year and expected to be released in November 2022.
