As lockdown measures begin to ease, anxieties and tensions are high within communities like the Wirral.
The Wirral is home to a community of over 300,000 people. After welcoming Wuhan evacuees to quarantine in January this year, statistics suggest a steady drop in the rate of coronavirus infections over the past few weeks.
However, the use of face masks in public settings has been hotly debated.
Many feel that there is no need to wear masks, and that it is a personal choice. Others are much more cautious, believing the peninsula could potentially see a ‘drastic spike in cases’ in the coming months.
Our current infection rate has been compared to rates seen in Leicester. Furthermore, there are also concerns the Wirral’s poverty divide may lead to a localised lockdown.
